Student Success Program
HELPING EVERY STUDENT THRIVE
At Friends Christian School, we believe every child is uniquely created by God with individual strengths, challenges, and purpose. Our Student Success Program is designed to support students who may be experiencing academic difficulties or have identified learning differences, meeting them exactly where they are and helping them grow with confidence.
Led by Education Specialists, the program provides structured, research-based support tailored to each student’s needs. Services may include targeted reading intervention, additional support in English Language Arts and Math, and small-group or one-on-one instruction. Whether a student needs short-term skill reinforcement or more ongoing academic support, our flexible approach allows us to adjust services as they progress.
Using data-informed instruction, our specialists work closely with classroom teachers to ensure strategies are aligned and impactful. Through personalized learning plans and targeted skill development, we aim to build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and equip every student to thrive!
WHAT MAKES OUR PROGRAM DIFFERENT
Kindergarten–4th Grade
We provide systematic, Orton-Gillingham aligned structured literacy intervention in targeted small-group sessions. Instruction focuses on building skills in: phonics, reading, and spelling. This pull-out support is designed to close learning gaps and help students become confident, proficient readers.
5th–8th Grade
Students receive support through our Foundations classes, which focus on: reading and mathematics. These classes are smaller in size and include built-in accommodations, creating a supportive environment where students can successfully access grade-level curriculum.
Accommodation Plans
Our Student Success Program offers individualized Accommodation Plans based on parent-provided documentation (such as an IEP or private neuropsychological evaluation). These plans are developed in collaboration with parents, teachers, and Education Specialists and are designed to Strengthen foundational skills, support access to grade-level content, and promote measurable growth across all classroom settings
PARTICIPATION IN SUCCESS
At Friends Christian School, we take a thoughtful and proactive approach to supporting each student’s needs. Students may be recommended for additional support through teacher observations, classroom and school-wide assessments, a review of academic history, or formal evaluations such as an IEP or Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Report. Each step is taken with care to ensure students receive the support they need to grow and thrive.
Additional Services Available
We are committed to caring for the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. Both our Elementary and Middle School campuses have full-time School Counselors who provide guidance and support for students’ social and emotional well-being.
To further support families, we also partner with Emmaus Road Christian Counseling, which offers convenient on-site therapy services, and Mighty Kids Speech, providing on-site speech support at a reduced out-of-pocket cost. These trusted partnerships allow us to extend care beyond the classroom and better support each child’s overall development.
