The Friends Experience

Spiritual Life

The annual spiritual theme is a springboard for classroom conversation, our athletics teams, and clubs and other extra curricular activities. The theme unites our students and families around a common idea that’s grounded in spiritual truth.

2019–2020 School Theme: #WalkAsLions

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion” Proverbs 28:1

“We want our students to walk in the paths of righteousness and to show a bold faith in Jesus Christ. This theme also reflects the legacy of our school and a desire to see our students conduct themselves in a manner that exemplifies the best aspects of those who have come before,” shared Todd Perkins, Head of School.

Students can expect to hear “Walk as Lions” presented from different perspectives throughout the school year and during special events.

At Friends Christian School, our students learn that

  • Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior
  • He died on the cross to set us free from the penalty of our sin
  • We are called to grow in our relationship with God
  • God is trustworthy, and following Him is the basis for a fulfilled life.
  • Loving God requires us to fully develop our minds, as intellectual growth and spiritual development are fully joined.
  • All truth is God’s truth and that studying the world around us allows us to grow in relationship with the Creator.
  • Loving God results in loving and serving others.
  • Living according to God’s truth gives the greatest opportunity to grow personally and to positively impact the world around them.

Beliefs matter. Our culture teaches us that beliefs are merely personal opinion, but this casual opinion ignores the fact that our beliefs determine our values and our view of the world, which in turn governs our choices. Biblically, belief is not a matter of opinion, but rather it is the logical conclusion that we draw from the evidence in front of us.
