How to Get the Most out of a School Campus Tour

A tour during regular school hours is a great way to get a feel for a campus and its teachers. To schedule a personal tour of a Friends Christian School campus, either call ahead or send us an online request for a day and time that works for you. Tours typically last about an hour and are a fun and productive way to quickly gather information. Here are some great tips to get the most out of a school tour:

  1. Do some reading beforehand. General questions about available schedules, class sizes, and school philosophies are published in school pamphlets or on their websites. Knowing some basics makes the tour that much more productive on both ends.
  2. Write down questions for the tour guide. When a question pops up during your research or while on the tour, it’s a good idea to make a note of it. For example: “I read on your site you encourage kids to be a Christian Athlete on and off the playing field. Can you give an example of how that is taught?”
  3. Have fun. Letting prospective families see the inside of classrooms, playgrounds, ball fields, libraries and labs is a chance for a school to show off its best features. Parents and students get to be inspired by the learning that happens every day on campus.
